We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Ditka — “Iron Mike”, “Da Coach” — who died on Friday, October 9, at the age of 86.
On the football field, he changed the game: the first tight end inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a Super Bowl winner as a player with the Dallas Cowboys, and the head coach who led the legendary 1985 Chicago Bears to victory in Super Bowl XX.
And he brought exactly the same fire to the golf course. Whether it was the sideline or the first tee, cigar in hand, Mike Ditka demanded accountability — from his players, from himself, from everyone around him. Golf was a genuine love of his: he even hosted his own television golf programme, “For the Good of the Game”, sharing tips and stories from the fairways.
From all of us at Executive Global Tours — a company built on travelling with sporting legends — rest in peace, Coach. There will never be another like you.
