Historically and culturally, England is one of the most fascinating countries in the world. For a period, England ruled an Empire that contained one quarter of the world’s population. It created parliamentary government; the world’s most widely used system and the military command structure used by every country of the world. Its language is the unofficial lingua franca of the world. Its literature is unsurpassed by any other.

There is no country in Europe to which America has closer cultural ties and arguably political as well than England. It is not surprising then that some 50% of Americans visiting Europe in any given year visit England. What is surprising is how few get beyond London. That is a pity because almost every corner of England has some connection with America. A trip through England has history, cathedrals, castles, stately homes, gardens, quaint inns, pubs, festivals and great scenery.
