Bahía Beach Resort Golf Course, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico — Caribbean Golf, Rainforest and Old San Juan

7 days / 6 nights · Two-centre touring route · 4 rounds · Golfers and non-golfers, one trip

Golf in the morning. Puerto Rico the rest of the day.

Puerto Rico pairs championship golf with Caribbean beaches, a rainforest, a glowing bay and one of the great old cities of the Americas — and for US travellers, it comes with no passport needed and an easy flight into San Juan.

Executive Global Tours has organised customised golf and sports travel for 38 years. This sample journey is built the EGT way: golfers play the island’s best-known resort courses while non-golfers get a real programme of their own — not a spa voucher and a sun lounger — and everyone comes back together for the meals, the evenings and the moments the trip will actually be remembered for.

One trip. Two parallel experiences. Everyone travels together.

Highlights

  • Bahia Beach — Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf through a palm-shaded nature reserve of lagoons, lakes and beach, with El Yunque on the skyline
  • Grand Reserve — Championship Course, Tom Kite’s coastal layout, home of the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open
  • El Conquistador — Arthur Hills golf on a Fajardo headland, all elevation, ocean and rainforest views
  • TPC Dorado Beach — East Course — the Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic, restored by Robert Trent Jones Jr., through coconut groves to the Atlantic
  • El Yunque National Forest — waterfalls, rainforest trails and a swim beneath the falls, with lunch at the Luquillo kiosks
  • A bioluminescent bay at night — kayaking Laguna Grande at Fajardo as the water lights up around every paddle stroke
  • Old San Juan, together — blue cobblestones, colourful streets, El Morro and San Cristóbal, and lunch in the old city on the day the group crosses the island
  • Two luxury beach resort bases — the Río Grande coast in the east, then Dorado in the west, so no day starts with a long drive

Day by day

Day 1 — Arrive in San Juan, settle on the east coast. Arrive at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) and transfer east to the Río Grande coast. Check in, find the beach, and let the travel wash off.

Together: Welcome reception and island dinner — the group, the week and the first rum punch.

Day 2 — Bahia Beach.

Golfers: Bahia Beach — a Robert Trent Jones Jr. course woven through a gated nature reserve, around saltwater lagoons and along the beach.

Non-golfers: El Yunque National Forest with a local guide — rainforest trails, waterfalls and a swim — then lunch at the famous Luquillo kiosks and time on Luquillo Beach.

Together: Dinner on the east coast and an easy evening at the resort.

Day 3 — Grand Reserve.

Golfers: Grand Reserve — the Championship Course, Tom Kite’s design on a coastal peninsula beneath El Yunque, home of the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open.

Non-golfers: Old San Juan with a guide — El Morro, Castillo San Cristóbal, Calle del Cristo and the cathedral, with time for shopping, galleries and coffee in the old city.

Together: A hosted Puerto Rican dinner — mofongo, fresh seafood and live music where the evening takes you.

Day 4 — El Conquistador and the glowing bay.

Golfers: El Conquistador — Arthur Hills golf above Fajardo, with elevated tees and views across to the islands.

Non-golfers: A beach day the Fajardo way — boat out to Palomino Island for swimming, snorkelling and sand, with a relaxed resort afternoon to follow.

Together: An early dinner in Fajardo, then kayaking the bioluminescent bay at Laguna Grande after dark — one of the natural wonders of the Caribbean, and the night nobody forgets.

Day 5 — Old San Juan, together — then west to Dorado. No golf today. The whole group crosses the island together, stopping in Old San Juan for a guided walk, the forts and lunch in the old city, then continues west to Dorado to check in for the second half of the trip.

Together: Sunset drinks in Dorado and a free evening — dinner where you like, on your own time.

Day 6 — TPC Dorado Beach, East Course.

Golfers: TPC Dorado Beach — the East Course, Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s seaside classic, restored by his son, with the Atlantic in play and in view.

Non-golfers: A slow Dorado day — resort spa, the nature trail, the beach club and the pool, at exactly the pace you choose.

Together: Farewell dinner and trip awards — best round, best story, and the prizes nobody saw coming.

Day 7 — A last morning, then home. Leisurely breakfast and beach time. Golfers who want one more round can add Dorado Beach’s Sugarcane Course; everyone else gets a final swim.

Together: Private group transfer to San Juan airport and departure.

Customise it: Add a night in either centre, swap a round for Wyndham Grand Rio Mar’s Ocean or River courses, add Royal Isabela on the northwest coast as a west-coast extension, or build in a catamaran day to Icacos or Culebra. Every EGT journey is a starting point, tailored around your group, your dates and your balance of golf and leisure.
