Coast and Glens hosted a tour for Liam from Executive Global Tours. His tour guide was Mark Rodgers and Liz Steele. Liam was able to play Royal Portrush Golf Course and visit Dunluce Castle. Liam is touring Northern Ireland to curate the best experiences to add to our tours.
Dunluce is one of the most picturesque and romantic of Irish Castles. With evidence of settlement from the first millennium, the present castle ruins date mainly from the 16th and 17th centuries. It was inhabited by both the feuding McQuillan and MacDonnell clans. Historical and archaeological exhibits are on display for public viewing. The hit HBO show Game of Thrones filmed at Dunluce and it represented the fictitious House of Greyjoy.
Royal Portrush is a club with a long and distinguished tradition with world class links which are set in spectacular rolling sand dunes with breath taking coastal views. Liam thoroughly enjoyed the course. This is truly one on Northern Ireland’s gems.
Royal Portrush Golf Club is home to one of the best and most challenging links golf courses in the world, the Dunluce Links, and the hidden gem, the Valley Links. It is situated on the beautiful North Antrim Causeway coast, with magnificent views in all directions. It is situated just outside the town of Portrush approximately 6 miles north of Coleraine and 63 miles north-west of Belfast City. In July 2019 the Dunluce was the host venue for the 2019 Open Championship won by Ireland’s Shane Lowry.
