Montreal Food Tour

Three or four nights in North America’s most delicious city — markets, bagels and smoked meat by day, chef-led dinners by night, all an hour’s flight from New York.

Montreal is the food city Canadians brag about and Americans are still discovering: French technique, Jewish deli heritage, Italian coffee bars and a market culture all its own. Executive Global Tours has spent 38 years building group travel around great food and wine, and our Montreal gourmet weekend brings that same hosted, everything-looked-after touch to the perfect North American long weekend.

As with all our Food & Wine Tours, the weekend runs on two tracks: the food lovers go deep while travelling companions get a full programme of their own — and everybody meets back at the table each evening.

The Weekend, Plate by Plate

Market Mornings with a Local Guide

Start where Montreal’s chefs start the day: Jean-Talon Market in Little Italy and Atwater Market by the Lachine Canal. Our local guide walks your group through the stalls — Quebec cheeses, charcuterie, maple everything — with tastings along the way and the stories behind them.

The Mile End Food Walk

Montreal’s tastiest neighbourhood on foot: wood-fired bagels hot from the oven and smoked meat at the heritage counters that made it famous, plus coffee bars, bakeries and the local institutions your guide swears by. Come hungry.

Chef-Led Dinners in Old Montreal

Evenings belong to the city’s dining rooms. Our bistro dinner programme moves between Old Montreal’s candlelit rooms and the new-wave bistros — with the option of a chef-led evening: a private kitchen tour, a tasting menu built around your group, and wines to match.

Optional: Sugar Shack Day (In Season)

In late winter and spring, add the great Quebec tradition: a cabane à sucre day in the countryside — the sugaring-off meal, maple taffy on snow, and a sleigh ride if the snow holds. A group favourite, and worth timing a trip around.

Optional: Quebec City Extension

Stay on for two nights in Quebec City: North America’s most European old town, with its own superb table — from the classic bistros of the Quartier Petit Champlain to the fine dining of the Grande Allée. We handle the transfers, the hotel and the reservations.

For the Non-Food Companions

Nobody sits out a Montreal weekend. While the food lovers are grazing the markets, companions explore Old Montreal and the Old Port, the city’s excellent museums, and Mount Royal — the mountain park with the great views over the city. Everybody reunites for dinner, every night.
